RAND Boats

RAND Boats is a Danish builder headquartered in Copenhagen, with a range split into three families rather than one line. The Social models are built around seating and deck area (Breeze 20, Mana 24, Solara 33), the Sports models around handling and speed (Source 23, Play 24, Spirit 25, Supreme 27, Leisure 28, Roamer 29), and the Yacht models around size (Escape 32, Archipelago 32, Lagune 44, Realm 45). RAND markets the whole range as Danish-designed electric motorboats, and unlike most builders of comparable size it does not buy its drivetrain off the shelf. The company developed its own electric engine, which it calls RAID, built around a German permanent-magnet motor and specified for ocean use rather than adapted from an inland or freshwater system. The battery packs use Li-NMC cells, and RAND publishes a packaging figure of 5 kg per kWh. That number matters more than it looks: on a light planing hull, every kilogram of pack mass is paid for twice, once in the energy needed to move it and again in the displacement it adds. Deck layouts across the range favour open, low-freeboard social space over enclosed accommodation, which fits a Scandinavian day-boating and archipelago-cruising market rather than a liveaboard one.
