How we rank listings

Last updated: July 19, 2026

Default order on listing pages

When you browse a catalogue page (for example the boats overview or a category page) without choosing a sort order, listings appear in this order:

  • Featured first. Our editorial team can mark a small number of listings as featured, based on catalogue quality and relevance for buyers. Featured status is an editorial decision: sellers cannot buy it, and no seller payment influences it.
  • Then newest first. All remaining listings are ordered by the date they were added to the catalogue, most recent first.

Sort options you control

Choosing a sort option replaces the default order entirely. You can sort by price (lowest or highest first), electric range, battery capacity, boat length, newest, or popularity (based on how often a listing has been viewed). Filters (category, brand, price range and so on) narrow which listings are shown but do not change their order.

Search results

Search results are ordered by relevance to your query: how well the words you typed match a listing's name, brand, and description. Relevance is computed by a standard full-text ranking algorithm (BM25). Seller identity and seller payments play no role in search relevance.

Paid placement

No form of payment currently influences ranking anywhere on Volta. If we ever introduce paid placement, those listings will be clearly labelled as sponsored where they appear.

Reporting illegal content

If you believe a listing or other content on Volta is illegal (for example, it infringes intellectual property, is fraudulent, or breaches product-safety rules), email contact@voltayachts.com with the subject "Illegal content report". Please include the link to the content, why you consider it illegal, your name and email address, and a statement that your report is accurate and made in good faith. We review every report, act on substantiated ones (including removing or restricting the content), and inform both the reporter and the affected seller of our decision and the reasons for it.
