About Broads Authority

The Broads Authority is the navigation authority for the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads, and it puts shore-power posts on its own moorings. The Broads went electric earlier than anywhere else in Britain, because the hire fleets here run short days between staithes and a night on the mains is enough.

How you use it

Cards from the Authority and from many boatyards, used at the post. The moorings themselves are free for 24 hours; what you pay for is the electricity.

What to know

The Authority's charging page and its moorings register do not name the same sites. Where they disagree we follow the register, which covers Authority-owned moorings only, and the exceptions are explained on the places they affect.
