An electric cabin cruiser is a fully enclosed cruising boat with sleeping accommodation, a small galley, and a head, propelled by an electric drivetrain. Cabin cruisers bridge the gap between day-boats and full liveaboards: they handle weekends and short coastal cruises rather than indefinite stays. The closed cabin opens up shoulder-season cruising in temperate climates where an open boat is uncomfortable from October through April.
Electric cabin cruisers are well-suited to owners with predictable cruising patterns and home marinas: short hops between favourite anchorages, overnight stops at known marinas with shore power, and weekend trips that stay within the boat's battery range. Larger cabin cruisers (35 feet and up) increasingly ship as series-hybrid configurations, with a small diesel generator for range extension and an all-electric mode for arrivals and departures in regulated zones.
