Data Protection

Last updated: August 9, 2026

GDPR Compliance

Volta Yachts is committed to protecting your data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection laws.

Data Controller

Volta Yachts acts as the data controller for the personal information we collect and process through our platform.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data based on:

  • Your consent for marketing communications
  • Contractual necessity for providing our services
  • Legitimate interests in operating and improving our platform
  • Legal obligations we must comply with

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our cookie and analytics practices are described in detail in our Privacy Policy. In summary:

  • Essential cookies (consent preferences, seller session) are set without prior consent under the strict-necessity exception of ePrivacy Article 5(3).
  • Google Analytics 4 is loaded with Google Consent Mode v2; for visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland all storage signals default to denied and require affirmative opt-in via the cookie banner.
  • Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless and runs for all visitors without setting identifiers on your device. Our own visitor counting uses a value that is recalculated from scratch every day and stored nowhere, so it cannot follow you from one day to the next and does not depend on your consent choices.
  • The "Personalization" option sets one persistent cookie so your saved and compared boats survive a closed tab. It is off unless you switch it on, and it is described in the next section.
  • You can withdraw consent at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer. Withdrawal has the same effect as never giving consent (Article 7(3) GDPR) and does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Saved Boats, Comparisons and Recently Viewed

If you switch on "Personalization" in the cookie banner, we store a cookie named volta_vid containing a random identifier. It lets your saved boats, your comparison list and your recently viewed boats survive closing the tab. Without that opt-in, none of this applies: those lists stay only in your browser's local storage, exactly as before, and no identifier is created.

  • The identifier is a random value generated on our servers. It is not derived from your IP address, your device, or anything else about you, and it cannot be recalculated once you delete it.
  • Against that identifier we store only the boats and products you saved or compared and the ones you viewed. No name, no email address, no IP address, no location.
  • The cookie is per browser, so this does not carry your lists across devices. Signing in to an account would, and that is not something we offer to buyers yet.
  • We keep the identifier and its lists for 180 days after your last visit, then delete both automatically. Every visit restarts that period.
  • Turning "Personalization" off again, via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer, deletes the stored lists from our servers and removes the cookie. Your lists remain in your own browser; we simply stop keeping a copy.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

Your Rights Under GDPR

  • Right to access your personal data
  • Right to rectification of inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to restriction of processing
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object to processing
  • Right to withdraw consent
